NO SCHOOL MONDAY SEPTEMBER 6th!!!
Entertainment book sale ends September 8th. If your child does not plan on selling it, please send it back to class with them!! If they do sell it, they need to bring the money back to class!
Check your student’s HW EVERY night. Make sure they are reading or being read to each night for at least 15 minutes. We will be reading decodable readers in class and then they will be sent home. Keep these at home; they are great books for the students to be reading. I will start sending home a reading log next week. These will need to be filled out each night and returned to school EVERY Friday.
Work on their spelling words with them every night. When EVERY student gets a 100% on the spelling test, I will throw them a pizza party!! You can also help them put the words in ABC order; we have done this in class a few times.
Assessments and spelling tests are on Fridays. For spelling tests I give a point for each word spelled correctly, 1 pt. for upper case letters where needed, 1 pt. for punctuation marks, and 1 pt. for spacing between words.
If you would like to volunteer in the classroom, please send me a note letting me know what days and times you are available to come in. I would like volunteers to be able to start coming in next week.

September 10th- Heroes night!! Dinner @ 6p.m. Program starts at 7p.m
September 10th- Midquarter ends
September 14th- Fall pictures (students must wear their uniform)

November 24th- THANKSGIVING LUNCHEON FOR THE STUDENTS!! There is NO cost for this lunch!! Please be sure to send in A DOLLAR with your student by November 18th. Our class will be responsible for turkey (that is what the dollar donation is going towards). If you would like to volunteer to cook a turkey, please let me know ASAP!! They will need to be cooked, sliced, and in our classroom by 9:30 a.m. on November 24th!!

November 25th- 27th- NO SCHOOL!!! Thanksgiving break

Pizza Hut Book-It-Reading- This is a fabulous reading incentive for all levels. If your child turns in a reading log on Friday, your child will get a reading award certificate for a free personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut. However, they must have read EACH night for at least 15-20 minutes!!! This program will end March 31st.

Family turkey collage- This homework project is due on or before November 18th! Pattern and guidelines were sent home.

We have run out of glue sticks and glue bottles!!! Any donations would be wonderful!! Thank you to those who have already donated!!!
